abOUT OUR YOUTH & CHILDREN'S DIRECTOR
Want to know more about our Youth & Children's Director?
Roxie Gardner came to know Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior at the age of six and sensed the Lord directing her toward vocational ministry early in her life, but like many people she took a few detours over the years. She has served in many different capacities as both a lay person and bi-vocationally at the local church, Association, and state levels. She received her certification in Preschool & Children’s Ministry in 2014 from Campbell University Divinity School and the North Carolina Baptist State Convention. Prior to this her education and professional career have been medically focused.
Roxie has a heart for seeing all people grow in their walk with the Lord, from the very young to the young at heart, but her passion and primary call has always been to bring children and young people to Jesus. She sees herself as a faith facilitator or guide; equipping and encouraging others in their journey toward faith in Christ and in their life long walk as his disciples. Roxie began serving here at AMBC as our Youth & Children's Director on October 1st, 2017. Roxie has served for over 25 years in various churches throughout North Carolina in Youth & Children's Ministry as well as with Special Needs Ministries. With her vast expertise and experience in these areas of service Roxie is surely a blessing to us here at AMBC and in our local community. Having been raised on a tobacco farm in rural Guilford County North Carolina by a mom with an unwavering faith in Jesus, Roxie has an appreciation for small communities, hard work, and the role faith plays in making strong families. Roxie has been married to Mitchell for 30+ years. Mitchell’s mother was born and raised in the Wildwood community of Morehead City. She instilled in him a deep love for Carteret County while he was growing up. He and Roxie moved to the area and have made their home in Cape Carteret since 1994. Although they have no children of their own they have had the opportunity to be a part of the lives of many children and young people along the way. They currently share their home with a 4 footed fur baby named Gracie. No matter where life has taken them or what they have faced along the way they have always been a team of three; Mitchell, Roxie, & Jesus as represented by Ecclesiastes 4:12 which was part of their wedding ceremony. “And if one can overpower him who is alone, two can resist him. A cord of three strands is not quickly torn apart.” |
