As found in the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20), we here at Atlantic Missionary Baptist Church believe that the Lord Jesus Christ commanded His disciples to “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even until the end of the age.” The strategy of the Atlantic Missionary Baptist Church family to carry out the Great Commission that God has commanded for us to do as His disciples is by being:
“Anchored in His Word. Secured by His Grace. Called to His Purpose.”
WHO WE ARE:
In all matters of faith and practice, we shall endeavor to follow the teachings and instructions of our Lord and God revealed and recorded in His Word, the Holy Bible. We will also faithfully adhere to the Baptist Faith and Message 2000, a statement adopted by the Southern Baptist Convention for general instruction and guidance of our people in articles of Christian faith.
Having been led by the Holy Spirit to receive Jesus Christ as our personal Lord and Savior, on profession of our faith, having been baptized by immersion in the name of the Father, of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, we covenant together with the other members of Atlantic Missionary Baptist Church in membership. In doing so, we commit ourselves to the following:
1) To Always Promote and Protect the Unity of the Church Body
By seeking to love God with all our heart, soul, strength and mind.
“You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind…” - Luke 10:27
By acting in love toward other members of my church family.
“Since you have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit in sincere love of the brethren, love one another fervently with a pure heart…” - 1 Peter 1:22
By following and supporting the church leadership as they also seek to follow Christ wholeheartedly.
“Obey those who rule over you, and be submissive, for they watch out for your souls, as those who must give account. Let them do so with joy and not with grief, for that would be unprofitable for you.” - Hebrews 13:17
2) To Always Pray For and With Our Local Church and Community
By praying for its health in order that our church might grow.
“We give thanks to God always for you all, making mention of you in our prayers…” - 1 Thessalonians 1:2
By spreading the Word of God through public profession of faith in our everyday lives, inviting the un-churched to attend, and being His witnesses throughout our own symbolic Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and ends of the earth.
“Then the master said to the servant, 'Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.” - Luke 14:23
“…but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the Earth.” – Acts 1:8
By being faithful and consistent to welcome all of those who visit and invite them to return.
“Therefore receive one another, just as Christ also received us, to the glory of God.” - Romans 15:7
3) To Always be a Faithful Servant within the Local Church Body
By discovering our individual gifts and talents.
“As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.” - 1 Peter 4:10
By being equipped to serve alongside the pastor.
“And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ…” - Ephesians 4:11-12
By developing a servant’s heart and loving others enough to place their needs higher than my own.
“Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others…Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus,” - Philippians 2:3-4; 7
4) To Always Support and Be Active in the Life of the Local Church
By faithfully attending a Sunday School class and by holding a regular personal and/or family time of spiritual devotion.
“…not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.” - Hebrews 10:25
By being truthfully able to confess before God and my fellow church members that I always be an ambassador of Jesus Christ.
“Only let your conduct be worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear of your affairs, that you stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel…” - Philippians 1:27
“Therefore we are ambassadors for Christ as though God were making an appeal through us: we beg you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.” – 2 Corinthians 5:20
By regularly and consistently giving a tithe and offerings to Atlantic Missionary Baptist Church.
“And all the tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land or of the fruit of the tree, is the LORD'S. It is holy to the LORD.” - Leviticus 27:30
“Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, so that there may be food in My house, and test Me now in this”, says the Lord of Hosts, “if I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you a blessing until it overflows.” – Malachi 3:10
